Magisk 30.1 Issue: Apps Cannot Request Root Access
in Post with 0 comment

Magisk 30.1 boasts several new features, but some users experience a frustrating issue: apps, including the Magisk app itself, cannot request root access. This was not a problem with previous versions like 29.0.

There's speculation that the issue stems from a new feature in 30.1: “Restrict root capabilities,” which aims to limit Linux capabilities even when running as root (uid=0). Despite having “Restrict root capabilities” turned off, users continue to face this problem.

Unfortunately, downgrading to a previous Magisk version is no longer possible due to limitations in the current update mechanism. The conventional method of renaming APKs to ZIPs and installing modules also appears ineffective.

For those experiencing this issue on a Samsung A22 5G with Android 12 and a stock ROM patched with Magisk, the only working module is apparently “Systemless Lawnchair Launcher v8.0”.

What should you do? The Magisk community awaits a solution to this frustrating bug. In the meantime, users can explore alternative root access methods or hope for a swift resolution from the Magisk developers.
