This guide aims to help troubleshoot the rooting process on a Xiaomi Redmi Pad SE (codename: flare, model number 24075RP89G). The device runs on Android 15 and uses a Helio G85 processor. Despite successful patching of the boot.img and flashing with --disable-verity --disable-verification flags, the device isn't rooted.
The issue stems from the lack of init_boot.img or recovery.img files in the stock fastboot ROM. The device doesn't have a dedicated recovery partition, but a recovery mode exists for data wiping.
The user has attempted rooting with Magisk versions 28.1, 27.0, and the latest canary debug version, all with the same unsuccessful result.
Further investigation reveals a vendor_boot-debug.img in the stock ROM, which, when flashed to the vendor_boot partition, allows adb root, but doesn't grant sufficient su access.
