After receiving a recent OTA update for my Google Pixel 7, I experienced a bootloop issue seemingly related to the PixelXpert module. While attempting to re-install Magisk to another slot and reboot, the boot process became incredibly slow. Although PixelXpert launched normally, it appeared that all customizations and settings had reverted. A subsequent reboot resulted in an immediate bootloop. Fortunately, I have an anti-bricking Magisk module installed that prevented further system damage by disabling all Magisk modules after a minute.
Troubleshooting involved gradually re-enabling Magisk modules and rebooting to pinpoint the culprit. I discovered that re-enabling PixelXpert consistently triggered the bootloop. Interestingly, the bootloop differed between instances. The first bootloop resulted in a prolonged loading screen where the system UI process failed to initialize. The anti-bricking module intervened, disabled all modules, and allowed the device to boot successfully. The second bootloop occurred without a loading screen, leading to two consecutive automatic reboots. The anti-bricking module attempted package cache clearing and re-enabling disabled system apps, but those measures failed. Ultimately, disabling SELinux allowed the phone to boot up.
