Face unlock on the Pixel 8 and 9 is incredibly convenient for quick and secure device access. However, its effectiveness in low-light environments can be frustrating. Many users, myself included, find it difficult to successfully unlock their devices in darkness. This limitation often leads to relying on less secure alternative methods, such as traditional PINs or passwords.
To address this issue, I propose a feature that allows users to temporarily increase the screen brightness during face unlock attempts when in a dark environment. This would ensure that the camera can adequately capture facial features, enabling reliable and efficient unlocking even in challenging conditions.
After successfully unlocking the device, the screen brightness could automatically revert to the user's previously set preference, preserving battery life and maintaining their desired screen brightness.
This simple yet impactful feature would greatly enhance the user experience and provide a much-needed improvement for Pixel 8 and 9 users who rely on face unlock. I believe this would be a welcome addition for many, including those who prioritize security and convenience in their daily digital interactions.
